So, you say this is Christmas ......

I hope that each and everyone of you are having a wonderful day ..... in whatever way you celebrate it and even if you don't.   I did my celebrating yesterday ... so today is a quiet one for me.  And that is a bit of wonderful, too.

 

A bit of  ' bah, humbug' ......

I watched a special on HGTV about decoratig the White House for the Holidays.  The theme was "All Things Bright and Beautiful" ....  All very pretty .... All very expensive.  Though I understand that the White House is the 'showpiece' for the nation,  the thousands of dollars [ probably tens of thousand of dollars ! ]  spent really bothers me.  Though they, of course, did not state a dollar amount ..... we all know how expensive fresh flowers, trees and greenery can be.   Tulips, roses and orchids to decorate the 20+ trees and all the rooms !!  Boggles my mind !   And to hear Laura say " I want it to be special, nothing artificial, nothing that has been used before,  I want it all to be fresh, to be real ... to be 'bright and beautiful' !!  

 My thought ....  ' then use your own damn money, Laura' !!!

I should not have watched that Special ..... it brought the Grinch in me right on out !!

A very close friend of mine died the 14th. He had an inherited desease. The gene that causes it is known. There has not been enought funds to find a cure for it, but Canadian and US medical teams predict a cure could be found - they have determined the inherited gene that causes it. Thre is no money for research though. More important to get the white house decorated.

Don't worry Lodi I feel the same way you do. They need to THINK before they spend all that money on something that will mean nothing in 5 yrs. Wasteful
