9-11

In the midst of another tragedy, we must not forget Sept. 11th, 2001.

As September 11th approaches, I think back on that terrible week in 2001.  Living in the Midwest, I watched the pictures on TV and found it hard to realize that terrorist had attacked our country, that what I was seeing on that small screen was real.   The skies now seemed so ominous.  From these seemingly peaceful skies had come those terrible missiles of death.    Looking skyward on my farm, I saw for the first time in my life a sky without billowing contrails or airplanes and I knew it was true.  It’s a time we must never forget.

The Silent Skies

No contrails crisscrossed the blue; the skies were clear and silent

‘Neath what appeared a peaceful view lay something cruel and violent

When all the planes were grounded it seemed our world stood still

But we sent a message that resounded with a resolve and iron will

As smoke rose from ground zero, we watched through tear filled eyes

We said prayers for all the heroes, both on the ground in the skies

Our peaceful world had shattered but we came together and grew strong

As we recognized what mattered and united to right the wrong

Looking back on that September, we stop to pray and realize

We must tell the story and remember the days of silent skies

No, we must never forget And that date is coming upon once again so soon!

I pray to God that the tragedies America has endured recently will serve to make her stronger!
Take care Lodi, & have a good weekend

Wonderful to see you back again, Lodi. You had me worried. That's a beautiful 9/11 poem. Unfortunately, people have seemed to forgotten as the years have gone on - and it's only been four years. That's sad. Hope you have a warm and wonderful weekend, my friend.

No, it's not snow just yet! That's some kind of clematis, I believe it's either "Autum", Or "Star" clematis. My next door neighbors actually planted that on their side of the fence just a couple of years ago & it entirely covers both sides of the privacy fence between our yards now. It's really quite beautiful, but only blooms for a couple of weeks. And it smells just wonderful
